Voluntary Sector Workforce Development Grants 2013-14
In agreement with HCC, HTDC took a novel approach with the
administration of this grants programme. Instead of inviting unsolicited
applications, eligible organisations interested in applying were
required to first of all meet with one of HTDC’s advisors (Learning
Champion), complete an Organisational Needs Analysis, and then work with
the advisor to complete the application. In this way we could ensure
that the activities funded would be most appropriate to deal with their
priority needs and spend the funding in the most effective way.
total of 25 grants were awarded to different organisations – download a
list here. 10 of these were for either just below or at the maximum
amount of £2,000. The average grant was £1,400.
We set a maximum of
£500 that could be claimed against the training for a specific
individual. Only 4 organisations went up to this level for an individual
– 3 for leadership and management training, one for an IAG
qualification (£500 was a contribution to the total cost of almost £2k).
In the main the funding was used for group training for teams of
staff and/or volunteers or for capacity-building initiatives. Please
note that the beneficiary numbers provided are estimates and we will get
more detail in the evaluations.
