Who the course is for

This half-day introductory course will be of particular benefit to trustees, managers, staff and volunteers whose work brings them into very close contact with service users and their personal lives and where expectations on both sides must be managed.
It will help individuals or those managing/supervising staff to understand about boundaries why they are important.

  • Friendship versus a professional relationship
  • How to avoid crossing boundaries
  • Skills in maintaining boundaries in the workplace

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session learners will be able to:  

  • Discuss issues regarding confidentiality and appropriate boundaries as it affects working with members of the public
  • Explain what confidentiality means within the context of the service you are delivering
  • Identify your own personal boundaries as a worker or volunteer
  • Identify your own responses to situations involving boundary issues and confidentiality
  • Identify and discuss situations where you should seek support

Trainer background

Moreen is a professional trainer with experience as a frontline service delivery manager in the Voluntary & Community and public sectors. She is also one of HCF Training’s Safeguarding Adults Trainers and a Fellow of the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning.
